Case Study 4: Lomas Site Welding Ltd
Lomas Site Welding is a relative young company, only trading for the last few years. It’s founder, Fran Lomasney decided that it was time to become a contractor as opposed to a sub contractor and to go into business for himself. Specialising in structural welding, temporary works, on-site fabrication and coded pipe welding, a fresh challenge was wanted for a young emerging company. What better project than the 2012 Olympics.
Working on behalf of companies like Morrison Construction, Lagans, FDL and Watson Steel, to name but a few, Lomas with its team of skilled welders spent a large amount of time on the initial groundwork of the Olympic Park, the company soon found itself being asked to work on other venues including the Velodrome, Basketball Arena, Handball Arena and the White Water Rafting Centre in Broxbourne. As the company’s reputation went from strength to strength, Lomas found the order book growing and even though the main projects were nearing completion, discovered they had won the contract for the pedestrian footbridges as well.
With this rapidly expanding company, accounting and administration support was a key requirement from the start and after the recommendation from another fellow BCS customer, Togher Construction Ltd, Fran made contact with BCS.
Office systems were set up and put in place to aid the rapid development of Lomas Site Welding which included a range of services from typing of estimates to customer invoicing, cash flow to credit control, full sales, purchase and nominal accounts systems to personal tax returns.
A CIS system was also put in place ensuring that the ever growing skilled workforce were CIS checked and registered and all the necessary sub contractor statements were produced on time and all HMRC deadlines met.
>“BCS have been a great help and support to both me personally and the company, and have provided assistance whenever it was asked for. I believe they have played a major part in the success of the company so far as they have saved us the headache of all the accounts and paperwork and so have allowed us to concentrate on what we do best, structural welding and fabrication.” said Managing Director, Fran Lomasney.
BCS feel proud that we have helped a new company begin, develop and flourish and in a small way, have played a part in the history of our country, the 2012 Olympic Games.
